– Dr. Victoria Oluwaremilekun Adeniyi of OAU has died – Until her death, she was the acting head of Department of Dramatic Arts of the university
The Nation is reporting that Dr. Victoria Oluwaremilekun Adeniyi, a senior lecturer of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in Osun state has died.
According to the newspaper, the lecturer slumped and died on Sunday, December 15.
She was reported to have slumped around 11.00 am in her residence. Reports also has it that she did not show any type of sickness as she even directed 2019 OAU convocation play which was recently staged.
Quoting a statement signed by Abiodun Olarewaju, the public relations officer of the institution, the newspaper reported that the deceased was the acting head of Department of Dramatic Arts of the university. “She was part of the academic procession of the grand finale of the university’s 44th convocation.
The vice chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, who was visibly unhappy, had visited the university’s Teaching Hospital and directed that necessary papers be filled for the conduct of a post mortem,” the statement reportedly read.
The lecturer’s death came less than twenty four hours after the death of a Professor of Paediatrics at the university’s Teaching Hospital Complex. The professor Ife Jerome Elusiyan, was shot dead by unknown gun men along Benin-Ekpoma road in Edo state. Also recall that Legit.ng had reported that Nicholas Igbokwe, a lecturer of the department of physical and health education at the institution was on Saturday morning, December 7, found dead in his office.
Olarenwaju, who confirmed the death of the lecturer, said the deceased’s body had been transferred to the mortuary. “It’s a pity we lost him. Nobody expected that. He was brought into the hospital this morning dead. “He was a gentleman to the core, he was a very dutiful man who really knew his onus, his demise sincerely came as a rude shock to all of us,” he said.
