GUU awarded Best Private University of 2019

The Gregory University, Uturu shone last week at the Abuja Sheraton Hotel among outstanding personalities and organisations as it was recognized as the Best Private University of the year 2019.

The award came just days after the university held her Fourth Convocation that was a resounding success and attracted bigwigs of the society.

At the award night attended by the upscale citizens and organisations, 50 various awards were given by the Igbere TV in recognition of excellence by the awardees in education, media, leadership, investment, business, the financial sector and public service.

A citation of the university that is fast morphing into one of the best in the country noted that GUU “is an Innovative institution of higher learning founded by an acclaimed

entrepreneur, Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu lbe after its licensing in 2010.

It also said GUU “is an infrastructural masterpiece parading scores of architecturally smart edifices including a fully equipped specialist hospital, hi-tech engineering complex an ultra-modem 200 sitter capacity auditorium, a well-stocked online and offline library, sports complex, research and innovative laboratories, media centre, campus radio, magazine and online TV studios.

GUU started in 2012 with 26 programmes domiciled in three colleges, and currently covers over 55 competitive degree courses in 10 Colleges including Medicine, Law, Engineering, Allied Health Science, Agriculture, Education, Environmental Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and postgraduate studies.

Gregory University continues to distinguish herself with many distinctive features, which uniquely stand her out in the country’s university system and one of such special features is the international exchange programmes that affords the university the opportunity of embarking on annual education tourism to foreign partner universities through student and faculty exchanges.

In the university’s curriculum, entrepreneurship and French language are compulsory

courses of study covering entrepreneurship training where scholars are to own at least a small scale enterprise upon graduation.

The university, for her entrepreneurship inclination operates support services such as bookshops, equipment maintenance and repair, the Caves Hotel, cafeteria and the liaison offices and guest houses in Lagos and Abuja, all geared to provide the much-needed support for academic excellence.
